2021 International Online Workshop on Indigenous Heritage

March 10, 2021 - March 12, 2021

The ICOMOS Working Group on Indigenous Heritage is virtually hosting its inaugural International Workshop from Wednesday March 10th to Friday March 12th, 2021. The three day workshop will consist of keynote speakers, panel discussions, breakout discussions, and artistic expressions / performances. 

Sessions will run throughout the day participants will be able to tune in live and “on-demand.”

The goal of the International Workshop is to learn about and explore important questions on Indigenous Heritage with the intention of: 

  • Drafting a work plan for the ICOMOS Working Group on Indigenous Heritage, including protocols and principles to work with Indigenous peoples and their knowledge 
  • Reviewing and developing its mandate,
  • Present and review a report on the findings to date. 

Indigenous Terms of Reference

An Indigenous Terms of Reference is a set of protocols that ensure Indigenous knowledge, experience and values are respected and worked with during an Indigenous project or decision making process. The Terms of Reference clearly defines the roles and protocols for Indigenous practitioners, non-Indigenous practitioners and other interested parties. 


Please note that participation fees for Indigenous participants are waived.
