Position: Student Policy Analyst

Term Duration: 3 months with possible extension

Location: Possibility for remote work, based in Canada

Hourly Rate: $25.00/hr

We are looking for an undergraduate or graduate student in the fields of architecture, archeology, art history, geography, engineering, conservation, political science, or Canadian studies that has an interest in heritage, who can help us research and analyze municipal, provincial, and federal policy matters related to heritage conservation.

Candidate Profile

The successful candidate is a bilingual (French and English) undergraduate or graduate student with strong research and writing skills, especially related to policy. The candidate displays strong interpersonal, writing, presentation, organizational, and communication skills.

Candidates will have an opportunity to collaborate with heritage professionals in Canada and around the world. 

Roles and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Executive Director and the ICOMOS Canada Board of Directors, the successful candidate will:

  • Contribute to the research and development of policy statements to further support the impact of heritage organizations across Canada;

  • Strengthen ICOMOS Canada’s membership contributions by accessing their expertise;

  • Work with ICOMOS Canada’s Standing Committee on Policy by preparing reports and briefing notes for internal use and external stakeholders; and,

  • Review and research current policies related to the theory and practice of heritage conservation and ICOMOS Canada’s four thematic priorities: cultural landscapes, climate change, indigenous heritage, cultural diversity.
