ICOMOS Canada is pleased to host Nadia Kurd for a webinar entitled: “A Mosque on Treaty 6: The Al-Rashid and the Making of Muslim Heritage in Canada.” The webinar will be held on Saturday, October 24th, 2020, from 3:00PM – 5:00PM EDT. Registration is open to all who are interested.

Al-Rashid Mosque, the first mosque in Canada was inaugurated on December 12, 1938 in Edmonton, Alberta, a moment that came to define the enduring presence of Muslim communities across the country. Their presence, recorded as early as the 1850s have been contributing to our collective built-heritage through places of worship, museums,  to storefronts and mainstreets. In this webinar, Nadia Kurd will explore the national significance of Al-Rashid and its impact on Canadian Cultural Heritage.
