Join the organization dedicated to innovative thinking and practice for the conservation of cultural heritage in Canada and internationally.

ICOMOS Canada brings together professionals from across Canada from such disciplines as architecture, archaeology, planning, engineering, anthropology, art history, and geography to develop and discuss the theory and application of best practices to the conservation of buildings, landscapes, and sites. Whether you are a seasoned professional, a student, a young practitioner, or someone who lives your cultural heritage, there is a place for your knowledge and your ideas in our organisation.

Annual Membership Drive

The annual drive for membership application and renewal is between November 1st and March 1st for the coming year. Membership applications received after March 1st will be considered for the following year (eg. between November 1st 2016 and March 1st 2017, membership applications are for 2017. Applications received after March 1st will be for membership in 2018).

Categories of Memberships

Membership fees support both the International Secretariat and the national committee. All membership categories offer a discount at paid events.

Requirements
  • A completed online or paper application;

  • A current Curriculum Vitae demonstrating relevant professional experience within the field of cultural heritage conservation;
  • A confirmation of agreement with the ICOMOS Statement of Ethical Principles.

Individual Professional Members ($175 per year)

Individuals with experience in the field of cultural heritage conservation who currently practice or are recently retired as:

  • a member of the scientific, technical or administrative staff of a national, federal, provincial, territorial, Indigenous, municipal, or regional agency / organization with responsibilities for heritage;
  • a decision-maker or a specialist (e.g., conservator, elder, interpreter) engaged in the conservation, restoration, rehabilitation and enhancement of cultural heritage;
  • an academic, instructor, or teacher engaged in researching or teaching subjects related to the conservation, restoration, rehabilitation and enhancement of cultural heritage;

Young Professional / Student Members ($50 per year)

Young Professionals (under 30 years old) who are beginning their careers as:

  • a member of the scientific, technical or administrative staff of a national, regional, Indigenous, municipal, or regional organization/agency with responsibilities for heritage;
  • a decision-maker or a specialist (eg. conservator, elder, interpreter) engaged in the conservation, restoration, rehabilitation and enhancement of cultural heritage;
  • an academic, instructor, or teacher engaged in studying or teaching subjects related to the conservation, restoration, rehabilitation and enhancement of cultural heritage.

This category also applies to Students currently registered in:

  • a Canadian or international post-secondary institution; and,
  • a programme or a collection of classes related to the conservation, restoration, rehabilitation, and enhancement of cultural heritage.

Individuals who want to support the aims and activities of ICOMOS Canada or who want to contribute to activities in the field of cultural heritage conservation without being an professional. This is ideal for those interested in staying informed about ICOMOS’ work, attending events, and contributing to discussions.
